'Who is Captain No-Body?' I hear you ask.

'why the name, if the author has mentioned their own in the book anyway?'

'Is this particular alias not bordering self deprecation?'.

If these thoughts have crossed your mind, you won't be alone. You could not possibly be alone, because we never truly are in this Great Sea of Consciousness... Which is exactly where you will find Captain No-Body!

Our Captain is the spark of inspiration we receive at 3am before feeling the need to suddenly create... The driving force behind every motivational speech we have heard... The courage and compassion in every act of advocacy... The lyrics in the songs and poems we write/recite... And so much more.

Captain No-Body is the nurturing voice we hear when we want to give up... The voice of reason when we steer off course... The inappropriate joke that surfaces out of nowhere... The intrusive thought that crosses our mind and brings shame... The narratives that we are not brave enough to say aloud... And those we are! 

The fantasy... The wish... The dream... The idea... 

The things we are made to believe are ours alone, which are carried across the sea, travelling from vessel to vessel, as we cling tightly to those that support us on our journeys while discarding the rest.

Labelling each a part of 'me', 'you', 'them', 'us', and inevitably moulding them into judgements, criticisms, phobias and over time, identities that we believe set us apart and make us somehow unique. Personalities that are eventually pushed to one side to make way for each new one that is birthed through the experiences that add colour to our lives and feed the stories we tell ourselves.

As the years pass and the accumulations stack, we soon find ourselves standing before a wall of masks each morning contemplating which would be the best fit for the occasion.

None belong to 'you'... None belong to 'me'... But they do belong to us; the Collective!

They make up the experiences of every generation that has been... or is to come, and Captain No-Body is the shared expression of these truths, sending ripples through the great sea of consciousness and reminding us of not only the interconnected nature of all living things... But the inherent purity which lies within; buried beneath the accumulations.

The author of these books chose not to hide his name or face while still using an alias, due to the understanding that the words contained within did not belong to him alone, but to the Collective... And to place his name on the front cover would falsely represent how they were weaved together and evolved over time. 

While the events mentioned were all very real to the author, they also did not belong to only him. They were stories of the Collective; an example of the archetypal 'Hero's Journey', which we will all experience eventually, and to view them any other way would be yet another trap of the ego.

Our Captain is paradoxically everybody and Nobody at all:

Captain No-Body is you and Captain No-Body is me, because Captain No-Body is us; the Collective!
